The collection consists of business correspondence, and files containing correspondence and other documents regarding promotions and projects important to Grants Pass and Josephine County such as the California and Oregon Coast Railroad, Crescent City Harbor Development, and Old Channel Mine.

Correspondence is arranged alphabetically and includes about 578 letters.

The correspondence includes letters to and from Archy B. Carter, a Portland mining engineer, W. B. Slick, a real estate promoter, and Claude H. Reed of the Pacific Utilities and Securities Co., Omaha, Nebraska.

The railroad, harbor and mine files include letters to and from Senator Charles L. McNary, James Twohy, and Major John W. N. Schulz, district engineer, Corps of Engineers, San Francisco.
