Biographical Note
Janet Edna Pink Ross was born on January 4, 1924 to Ralph and Edna Pink in Twin Falls, Idaho. She attended Twin Falls High School and later went on to Whitman College where she graduated in 1945 with a B.A. in social sciences. Janet was an involved member of Phi Mu sorority and participated in many other clubs. After graduating, Janet moved to Portland, Oregon to work as a secretary for Swift and Company where she met her husband Edgar Ross. They had two children, Elizabeth Simmons and David Ross. Edgar and Janet moved to Salem, Oregon, where she began her career as lead secretary to the dean of students at Chemeketa Community College. Janet died on August 20, 2017.

The Janet Pink Ross Scrapbook consists of scrapbook pages with newspaper clippings and programs from various Whitman College events between 1942 and 1946. It also contains clippings about the participation of Whitman College during World War Two. This collection provides insight into the life of a college student during wartime.
